  • What is an IBCLC, and how can you help me?
An IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) is a healthcare professional specializing in breastfeeding and infant feeding. I provide expert, evidence-based support for challenges like latch issues, nipple pain, low milk supply, engorgement, mastitis, tongue ties, and more.
  • What areas do you service?
I offer home visits in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and surrounding areas. Travel fees may apply for certain locations—please contact me if you’re unsure whether your area is covered.
  • Do you offer virtual consultations?
Yes! I provide online lactation consultations via a secure video platform. This is a great option if you’re outside my service area or would prefer an online session.
  • Is it beneficial to have a lactation consultation during pregnancy?
Absolutely! A prenatal/antenatal lactation consultation can help you feel confident and prepared for breastfeeding. During the session, we’ll discuss what to expect in the early days, how to establish a good milk supply, positioning and latch techniques, and how to prevent common breastfeeding challenges. If you have a history of breastfeeding difficulties, certain medical conditions, previous breast surgery, or are concerned about your breastfeeding journey, a prenatal session can be especially helpful.
  • How do I book a consultation?
Click on this link to Book an Appointment You will be directed to a list of the appointment types available. By selecting the consultation type most suited to your needs, you will have access to a calendar with appointment availability options so you can choose a suitable date and time. If you cant find anything that suits let me know and I will see what I can do.
  • What happens during a lactation consult?
During your consultation, I will take a detailed feeding history, observe a breastfeed, assess latch and positioning, and provide personalized advice and a feeding plan if required. I can also help with pumping, bottle feeding, and returning to work.
  • How long does a consultation last?
Initial Postnatal consultations: 1.5 to 2 hours Follow-up Postnatal consultations: around 1 to 1.5 hours Antenatal consultation around 1.5-to 2 hours
  • Do I need to prepare anything before my appointment?
It helps if your baby is ready to feed during the visit, but I understand that babies don’t always follow schedules! If you have questions or concerns, feel free to jot them down beforehand so we can discuss them during your appointment. For virtual consultations, ensure you have a stable internet connection and a quiet space.
  • Can I claim my consultation on private health insurance?
Some Australian private health funds offer rebates for IBCLC services. I have a list of healthfunds on my Rebates page that recognise me as a private. Due to different levels of health cover I recommend checking with your provider to see if you are eligible.
  • How much does a lactation consultation cost?
Details about my consultation types and fees can be found on the Services page. Travel fees may apply for home visits in certain areas, details can be found in my Terms of service If cost is a concern, please reach out to discuss options.
  • Do you offer bulk billing or medicare rebates?
IBCLC consultations are not currently covered under Medicare. However, I can provide an invoice for private health claims if applicable.
